We are absolutely thrilled to host the Coffee, Cakes and Journals: Bear Café inside one of Cardiff’s most spectacular historic landmarks.
Originally opened in 1855 as the Ebenezer Chapel, Cornerstone is a beautiful Grade II listed Neo-Gothic building located right in the heart of the city centre on Charles Street. Following a massive restoration project completed in 2016, it was brought back to life as a community and arts hub. With its soaring timber-beamed ceilings, dramatic architecture, and warm, welcoming atmosphere, it provides the ultimate cosy backdrop for a full day of journalling, planning, and stationery shopping.
If you are driving into Cardiff for the event, Cornerstone is situated on Charles Street (just off the A4161 near the railway bridge).
Drop-offs: There is space on Charles Street for quick drop-offs.
Public Car Parks: While the venue itself doesn't have a private car park, there are multiple secure public car parks steps away:
The Capitol Shopping Centre Car Park (North Edward Street - £20 for 24hrs)
St David's Shopping Centre (Mary Ann Street - £21 for 12hrs)
(Prices correct at time of publishing)
Cornerstone is incredibly well-connected for those traveling by rail across Wales and beyond.
Cardiff Central Station is just a 10-minute walk down the road, making it very easy if you are coming in on the main line from across Wales or the UK!
If you are travelling locally within South Wales, Cardiff Queen Street Station is a brief 3 to 5-minute walk away.
Being right in the city centre, the venue is a short stroll from major bus stops on Churchill Way and the main city centre routes, making local travel effortless.
We want everyone in our community to feel safe, comfortable, and completely at ease during their day with us. Cornerstone is a fully updated, highly accessible modern facility.
Step-Free Access
The venue features complete step-free access at the main entrance points, ensuring that wheelchair users, those with limited mobility, and guests arriving with heavy stationery carts can navigate into the building smoothly.
Lifts & Moving Between Spaces
All levels of the venue, including the main halls and mezzanine areas, are fully accessible via a spacious, modern internal passenger lift.
Accessible Facilities
Dedicated, fully accessible toilets are located on-site and are easily reachable from the main event spaces.
Seating & Quiet Spaces
Journalling is a relaxing hobby, but a big event can sometimes feel overwhelming! Everyone will be sat in round tables for the day, with a table plan announced in advance and table mates requests considered. If you ever need a brief, quiet moment away from the bustle of the main room to decompress, we will provide breakout spaces where you can take a breather.
